Permission, given by spoken words, or by thoughts, is an important consideration when in the presence of spirits. One must be very careful what one says ‘or thinks’ in such situations. Some discipline of mind is required. If you are using a ritual, fill your mind with it. When it happened to me, I merely thought the words ‘take me and leave the child’ and it happened immediately. I did not speak these words aloud. These were similar to the words said by the priest near the end of the horror movie, The Exorcist, when he gave permission to the demon to possess him, just before he killed himself.
