Sort of it is a generalization, an answer to a general question :) Anyway, what I constantly stumble upon in the esoteric, and not only estoteric, circles, is assumptions. We know very little about what is really happening.
Think for example of the "projection" concept, and try to reliably answer to the question:
Are the poltergeists real, e.g. when knocking to your door, or do something else attempting to "proove" you that the existence after the death is real, and whether this is really your relative? Or you just assume so, because e.g. you really want to believe in that? :)
The same thing is with meetings in the dreams states, OBE states etc.
